About Tribal Village
The people who live between the nature and in forest, are having different traditional type of culture which we generally called “Adivasi” culture. In this area they are called the people of “Rath District”. If we think about Adivasis who are spread in different states of India they will Emerge like this; as far as the population of the tribal People is concerned Madhya Pradesh come first in India then in second place Orrisa, third Bihar, fourth Maharastra & Fifth come Gujarat which has 14. 5% tribal people.
Even in Gujarat the tribal people’s location which we find is from the Arvalli is hills in north Gujarat which we may start from Ambaji to south Gujarat in Dang. They are spread in Almost twenty thousand squre miles Area of Banaskantha, Sabara kantha, Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Bhruch, Surat, Valsda & Dang Districts of Gujarat. There are 299 types of “Adivasis”in Gujarat most of them are “Bhils”. They have their own customs, culture and way of living. They live between nature. They are very close to nature. We find different types of social system in ” Adivasi”Some are male dominated.
The ” Adivasi”observe special types of customs for the birth of a child. If a child is born on the day of “HAAT”people will give name like “HATIYO”for the child he or she is born on “Mangalvar”they give the name ” Mangliyo”of ” Mango”generally the marriage age in tribals is between 15 to 22 years. We find child marriage, Love marriage, traditional marriage, Marriage by eloping with someone and Remarriage in tribals. As they believe in the continuity of life They put clothes ornaments utensils in the funeral of a person. The believe in rebirth and redemption from birth and death and in super natural elements like ghosts etc. As they are very hard worker we find women also working hard. There is no special difference in the up bringing of a male or female in them. Actually they celebrate the birth of a girl child because of its social importance.
We find addictions of liquor both in men and women. They are very rigid in their customs They believe in blind beliefs like witches, Badvas. For example if there is continuous voice of crow or suddenly passing of a sanative they believe that something bed will happen. They have faith in “Bhuvas”. They too believe that a person whose desires are not fulfilled at the time of death will be a ghost. They have faith in Idol worship and love paintings. They know the art of painting especially old was in houses. They dance on important events or occasions. Their dance is unique. The music is wonderful which attract the others. They use drainpipes for their music.
We find somewhat change in the life styles of “advises” in modern time. After the independence of India the tribals are getting freedom for education. Now a days we find development in them because of modern education. We find awareness for education in the women of tribal society. Thus the identification of the tribal culture has become very strong and their culture and art has created distinctive face in society.
